A TRUE South African sweet treat

Ingredients
- 250 ml all-purpose Flour (1 cup)
- 5 ml baking soda (1 teaspoon)
- 30 ml apricot jam (2 tablespoons)
- 15 ml butter or margerine (1 tablespoon)
- 1 egg
- 200 ml Sugar (3/4 cup)
- 250 ml milk (1 cup)
- 5 ml Lemon juice (1 teaspoon)
You will need the following ingredients to make the sauce that you pour over this pudding when it comes out of the oven
- 200 ml Cream (3/4 cup)
- 125 ml milk (1/2 cup)
- 200 ml Sugar (3/4 cup)
- 125 ml boiling water (1/2 cup)
- 5 ml vanilla (1 teaspoon)

Instructions
- Mix the butter and sugar together. Add the egg.

- Add the lemon juice, baking soda and apricot jam and mix.

- Add the milk and flour to this mixture, a little bit at a time, alternating between the flour and the milk. Incorporate well.

- Pour the mixture into a greased ovenproof baking tray and bake for 30 minutes or until baked.

- Stir the ingredients for the sauce together until the sugar has dissolved and then boil for 5 minutes.

- Pour the sauce over the hot pudding when it comes out of the oven.
