We have stayed in 11 so-called “luxury tented accommodations” in both South Africa and other African countries including Migration Camp in the Serengeti. We were SO glad when we arrived at Bundox Safari Lodge, near Hoedspruit in Limpopo, South Africa. Everything looked like the pictures we saw and that they posted, as well as on Booking.com. On arrival, we were met by Tanya and her very friendly team for a “Show and tell tour”. What a lovely Lodge in a true bushveld setting, miles from people. The clever layout of the tents, spa, reception and main dining areas assures guests of excellent privacy even if all tents will be fully booked. Cleverly laid-out Meru tents fit for a king awaits one at Bundox Safari Lodge, all with en-suite bathrooms and the necessary luxuries to make one feel special. There is also one large Superior tent, fit for a king complete with a huge outside shower, daybed area, and extremely nice bathroom with a bathtub to top all views. These tents are almost too nice and unreal to be called just “tents”. The “tent” idea was cleverly thought over and kept in mind with the design and layout of the lodge.
All meals were well presented, the choice was very good and no overloaded plates (we love the fresh herbs, grown on-site), bringing just that touch of class on one’s plate, even in the bush. How refreshing to get real proper food and not a potato salad, pap with gravy, and huge pieces of meat.
The bushwalk was very informative and well executed by trained professionals. Tanya made sure our Bush Picnic was so special and a true highlight of our trip. This especially will make us go back to Bundox Safari Lodge.
We have really found a gem in the Lowveld bush, named Bundox Safari Lodge. We want to congratulate the owners for allowing staff to “do their own thing”, that really made a difference. We would like to return to this very well presented, very well maintained, and well-priced “heaven in the Bush ” soon. We cannot but give Bundox Safari Lodge 10 out of 10 for everything.
