Instructions
  1. In a small bowl add the gelatine to 50 ml of the water and set aside. Add the remaining 250 ml water to a saucepan. Mix the sugar and maizena together and add this to the water. On medium heat stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Let the mixture boil very slowly for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  2. Add the soaked gelatine and stir until all has dissolved. Add a few drops of red food colour to the mixture to obtain a light pink colour if you are making the Turkish delight with rose water. If you are making Turkish delight with a lemony flavour, leave it as is.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased pan (20cm x 20 cm) or slightly bigger. If the pan is too big, your sweets will be very thin and if it is too small it will be too thick. Let it cool down (no need to put it into the fridge). When set cut into blocks and roll in icing sugar (powder sugar). Eat within a day or 2. Store in a cool place.
